Laminate Flooring Liquidators, The Floor Barn, is happy to bring you another tip that hopefully you will find useful when you go to buy laminate flooring.

Laminate flooring has come a long way in recent years as technology continually improves. At our retail showrooms at The Floor Barn, your laminate flooring liquidators, when people walk into the store and see laminate flooring on the floor they often assume that it real hardwood. The improved look of laminate however I feel just adds to the confusion for some on the difference of laminate and engineered hardwood flooring. So here is some information that will help explain laminate flooring in more detail.

Essentially laminate flooring is comprised of 3 layers. The top layer is a high definition image that is topped with a very durable protective layer. That image is attached to a high density fiber core that provides the stability of the floor. That core can come in many different thicknesses, our most popular thicknesse we sell as laminate flooring liquidators is 12mm which gives you a very solid floor. The final layer of laminate floors is the bottom layer which is made of melamine resin that helps with structure and moisture protection to the high density fiberboard.

Another big difference between wood and laminate floors is that most wood is either glued or nailed down during installation, however laminate floors are floated. The laminates have an interlocking ability that allows the floor to be floated and become stable within the room.
