hardwood flooring arlington

Hardwood flooring price increases are forecasted for the upcoming year according to industry experts. The increases are expected to be between 5-15% and can vary with the largest increases expected for solid hardwood floors and the smaller increases for engineered hardwood since they use less lumber to manufacture.

The main reason for these hardwood flooring price increase is due to the supply and demand for lumber. During the housing industry downturn starting in 2008, many lumber mills and logging operations  closed due to the builder crash nationwide. Although the housing industry has improved recently, that part of the industry has not rebounded sufficiently to supply the logs and lumber that is currently needed as the building has picked up. Until there is an increase in supply of logs, hardwood flooring price pressure will continue as logs are be bidded up just like coffee beans or other commodities.

So if you were considering purchasing new wood floors for you home, do yourself a favor and get them as your Christmas present to yourself or loved one. Purchasing within the month could save you thousands!
