The Floor Barn is an Arlington Carpet Store where we sell and install all type of floor covering materials like wood, tile, carpet, laminate, vinyl plank and hardwood floors. One of the most often asked questions by our clients is, what floor is best for my home?
To answer that questions honestly, the answer is going to be dependant on many different variables, such as the different rooms of the home, how many people live and frequent the home, kids, pets, etc.. There is not one right answer that applies to all homeowners and their homes. Also, even after educating a homeowner on what might be the best floor for a specific room in their home, they might have their heart set on a specific floor that is different than what you recommend.
Carpet – Carpet is a very popular floor for rooms such as bedrooms and living rooms. Depending on the quality, it is soft and warm to the touch. It is one of the most affordable floors to have installed. However, the popularity of carpet has decreased slightly in recent years at our Arlington carpet store. More people have allergies and want to go with all hard surface floors so the carpet dust not trap in dust, pet hair, etc.. From time to time we still come across carpet in bathrooms, as a wet area, we do not recommend that.
Tile – Tile is very durable floor. It is great for wet areas of the home such as kitchens, bathroom, entries and laundry rooms. One of the few cons is that it is cold and hard to the feel. You can have radiant heating installed under the tile to assist with the cold feel. It is also one of the most costliest floors to install, not the product itself but regarding the installation. Tile can be installed in any room of the home.
Laminate – laminate floors is one of our most popular floors for our clients. It is durable, affordable and more water resistant than hardwood. Laminate is ok to install in every room accept bathrooms.
Hardwood – wood floors add an ageless and elegant look and feel to your home that will last a lifetime. It is ok to install in any room other than bathrooms. It is susceptible to potential water damage in a kitchen, but many people are ok with taking that risk if they are tidy. Hardwood is one of the most expensive floors but adds real value to your home.
Vinyl Plank – another great floor that can be installed in any room of the home, including the bathroom. Technology has improved in recent years where the looks are much more appealing and it a reasonable price floor to install.
