As a Fort Worth Remodeling contractor, when our clients ask us for input about including a new shower bench in their shower that we are renovating, the decision usually comes down to the size and layout of the shower.
Most of the showers that we remodel has a footprint that would only allow for a corner bench without it eating up too much space. If your tub is placed next to your shower, a nice touch is to include the shower bench as part of the tub deck. You can see in our project gallery what that looks like: http://floorbarn.com/gallery/remodeling/

If you have a larger shower you can include a full width bench that will accommodate two people. Whatever the size of the bench, you will most likely want the shower bench to be reachable by the water from the shower head so that you stay in the warm water while you are sitting down resting or shaving your legs.

A nice alternative to utilizing tile for your shower bench, is to utilize granite. You can also see some examples of this in our website project gallery. What ever material you utilize for the shower bench, you will want to make sure that it is slightly sloped so that the water will slide of the seat and not pool on the seat.

Here is an article on some additional tips on selecting the right shower bench for you bathroom remodel: http://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/5038425/list?utm_source=Houzz&utm_campaign=u185&utm_medium=email&utm_content=gallery19
