We also do bathroom & kitchen remodeling, but know matter the size or scope of the project, a question a lot of clients ask is whether it is best for them to remain in the home throughout the home improvement project. There is no right or wrong answer to that question, each family and home situation is unique.

Obviously the largest consideration is money. You are already spending money on the project itself and sometimes it might not be within the clients' budget to have additional spending for lodging. If you have a family or friend nearby that will take you in, then that will be a savings. Also, the expected duration of the project would be an influence as well. If you are having flooring installed and only need to be out of the home for two days, then it would be easier for some to manage that cost. However, if the home remodeling project is a large one that will last a month, it might be more difficult and the homeowner might just have to brace themselves for less than normal living conditions or pop up a tent in the backyard.

The no-choice factor. There might be instances where you have no choice but to leave your home for a day. For example, if you are having new solid hardwood floors installed that will be finished on site, it will get very dirty from sanding but the biggest culprit will be the final step of applying the coats of poly urethane. That strong odor can give many a headache and it is best to plan to be out of your home for at least a day to allow for the fumes to dissipate a little.
