At The Floor Barn, the biggest part of the house that we are seeing clients seeking age in place remodeling experts is the bathroom remodel. That seems to be the biggest challenge for elderly with walkers, wheel chairs or any mobilization challenges is getting in and out of the bathroom and most specifically the shower itself.

So many of the bathroom renovations for age in place remodeling clients include widening of doorways, removing tubs and widening the showers, installing safety or handicap handrails and even installing items like a bidet.

In the shower renovations you will typically see things like not utilizing a shower curb, widening the entrance to the shower, including a bench, handheld as well as wall mounted shower heads, and shower controls (hot and cold) by the shower entrance instead of the traditional wall along with the shower heads so that the water is warm before entering the shower.

As the population continues to age and technology continues to improve, I can only expect age in place remodeling projects becoming even more popular in the future.
